Delhi government has sought suggestions from stakeholders on whether schools and colleges should be reopened now. “If you are a parent, student, teacher or principal in Delhi’s school or college, please send me your suggestions on [email protected],” Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio has said in a press conference.
The suggestions should be within 100 words and should have the name of the student and the school name.
The Deputy Chief Minister said close to 5 lakh parents have already attended the special parents teacher meeting (PTM) that is being held to discuss online learning in schools. The special PTM will be held till July 31.
He said, parents are eager to know when the schools and colleges would reopen and are also simultaneously anxious about the safety of their wards.
Teachers also want the schools to reopen, he said.
“Schools and colleges have either reopened or have been decided to reopen in the neighbouring states,” he said and added that, before the Delhi government comes to any conclusion on reopening educational institutions, we would seek suggestions from teachers, parents, and students studying or working in government and private schools.
COVID-19 situation is under control in Delhi right now, the education minister said.
Owing to the reduction in the number of new cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority had issued orders allowing cinemas, theatres and multiplexes to reopen with 50% capacity starting from Monday.
