In Prayagraj region, girls outshines boys in class XII CBSE board – Times of India


PRAYAGRAJ: In the year which witnessed the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic following which the Central Board of Secondary Education deciding to promote the students of class XII, Girls once again outshined boys in the five major district of the state data of which was shared by regional office of CBSE, here at Prayagraj on Friday.

CBSE’s Prayagraj region comprises over 50 districts of the state and in all the districts girls have outshined the boys. Of the five major districts, Prayagraj and Kanpur—both scoring an overall pass percentage of 99.22 percent—scored the top position followed by Varanasi with an impressive 99.02 percent.

According to the results of Prayagraj region of CBSE, a total of 137667 students of the 1219 schools were registered in class XII this year and were awarded marks as per CBSE norms. “With the overall pass percentage of the region being 98.59 percent, the pass percentage of girls was 99.17 percent while the pass percentage of boys was 98.24 percent”, said Regional Officer (RO) of CBSE, Shweta Arora.

Detailing the results of five districts of the state, that comes under the Prayagraj region, the RO informed that in terms of Prayagraj district there were 74 schools that were registered and a total of 10180 students were awarded marks. The pass percentage of the district was 99.22 percent. The pass percentage among girls was 99.42 percent while for boys, it was 99.10 percent.

Likewise, in terms of Lucknow district there were 146 schools that were registered and a total of 17154 students were awarded marks. A total of 98.89 percent of the students passed in the district and here too the pass percentage of girls was higher than boys. 99.60 percent of girls passed the exam as against 98.36 percent of boys.

In Varanasi district, 100 schools were registered and a total of 17633 students were awarded marks for class XII. 99.02 percent of them passed in the district and the pass percentage among girls was 99.35 percent while that of boys, it was 98.82 percent.

In Kanpur district, 92 schools were registered and a total of 10620 students were awarded marks. The overall pass percent was 99.22 percent. The pass percentage among girls was 99.67 percent while that of boys, it was 98.92 percent.

In terms of Gorakhpur district, 78 schools were registered and a total of 11379 students were awarded marks. The overall pass percentage was 98.32 percent. The pass percentage among girls was 99.03 percent while that of boys, it was 97.91 percent.
