J&K: Congress rubbishes BJP’s claims as hollow


Jammu: Senior Congress leader Rajni Patil said on the previous day that the claims of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Center that everything is normal in Jammu and Kashmir have proved to be “hollow” by the incidents of violence against innocent people.

According to a Congress spokesperson, Patil, the party in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, reached here and reviewed the current situation with senior Congress leaders. The Congress leader said, “The claims of the BJP-led central government that everything is normal in the Valley has proved to be completely hollow and innocents, especially minorities, are being targeted and killed by terrorists day by day, which is very important. It’s serious and shocking.”

Government failed to protect people: Congress leader

Patil also expressed concern over the death of nine jawans, including two Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), in an operation by security forces in the forest areas of Thanmandi in Rajouri district, besides Mendhar and Surankot in Poonch district. The Congress leader said, “The central government and the union territory administration have completely failed to protect the innocent people. Innocent and selected people in the valley are being targeted for more than two years now and now there are nationalists in the valley.” The situation has become worse and more unsafe for the people.”

He said that peace loving people, especially minorities are feeling the danger and are leaving the Valley for the safety of their lives.
