Christel House school for impoverished children at Nava Raipur to expand, govt approves second phase – Times of India


RAIPUR: Christel House school for impoverished children, belonging to the project affected families of Nava Raipur, the new capital of Chhattisgarh, is all set for an expansion with the Chhattisgarh government approving phase two funding and construction of new buildings and other modern facilities for the institution.

“Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran (NRANVP) has formally approved the second phase investment to expand the school adding classrooms, science labs, resource and counselling rooms, furniture, classroom equipment, and computers for grades 7 to 12”, said Christel House India, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jaison C Mathew told reporters.

The school, opened in 2016 at Atal Nagar, currently serves 559 students in grades Kindergarten to seven and with the completion of the phase two project, 910 students from the underprivileged communities in the Nava Raipur-Atal Nagar area will get free of cost education up to class 12. After grade 12, Christel house provides scholarships to pursue their university education and finally assistance with job placements. He said Christel House is running a school in Bengaluru for the last two decades and it’s a successful model with 97 per cent of its graduates are currently working in the formal sector or pursuing higher education – a model that creates a multiplier effect, as once a cycle of poverty is broken, future generations will benefit.
Thanking the state government and Nava Raipur Vikas Pradhikaran (NRANVP) for their support and approval and support for the school campus expansion, Mathew said children of the project affected families in the Atal Nagar area will receive a high-quality education, healthcare, life skills, character, and value education and employment readiness skills.

Throwing light on the Christel House schools, he said it employs a holistic model of education, providing high quality and high impact education, nutrition, medical care, transportation, books uniforms, stationery free of cost to all the students belonging to the poor sections. Along with rigorous academics, students receive complete health services such as medical check-ups, vaccinations, follow-up treatment, mental health services as needed. Breakfast, lunch, milk, and evening snacks, that follow nutritional guidelines, are provided daily to the students.
